Another day, another demo for Phil Porter. After a morning
of support from passers by, an increasingly desperate Porter phoned the
police to complain about the five peaceful protestors outside of his shop.
The police arrived, and after politely but firmly telling Porter that
we had every right to protest, they left to catch some real criminals
(people poaching ducks on a public pond as it would happen).
We stayed for a few hours afterwards, during which time trade was pitifully
slow for Phil: one bag of sawdust, a few small feed items and what looked
like some hamsters in a small box. It certainly didn't seem enough to
cover wages for the saturday staff, business rates and bills!
Despite every house in Barnham and the surrounding area having leaflets
put through the doors, there were still many people who hadn't heard about
the pet shop, and yet again people vowed to boycott the shop.
Another effective day, and another straw on Furry Friends' back.
