VICTORY!

05.01.07
On December 31st 2006, a sign went up in the window of Furry Friends stating that, "As from 1st of January 2007 Furry Friends will not be selling pets due to pressure from the on going animal rights protests."

Following SARC's expose of Phil Porter's horrific animal cruelty in the summer of 2005, the aim of this campaign was to get Phil Porter banned from keeping animals and / or force him to stop breeding and selling animals in his pet shop. The recent announcement follows on the heels of our successful campaign to get Mr Porter evicted from his breeding site/puppy farm.

MORE LEAFLETS DISTRIBUTED

20.11.06
As well as every house in Barnham, thousands more leaflets have been distributed in surrounding villages, including every house in Yapton, Walberton and Binsted.

FURRY FRIENDS DEMO

04.12.06
Seeing that Furry Friends has not been open for the last few sundays, we decided to make this a saturday demo - the busiest day of the week (although you might not believe that if you saw the tiny number of customers entering the shop).

The demo passed peaceully, but with more people taking leaflets and stating that they will not use the shop again, it is another nail in the coffin of Furry Friends.

Remember - this ends the minute Furry Friends agrees to stop selling live animals.

HUGE VICTORY IN FIGHT AGAINST CRUELTY

09.11.06
We are delighted to confirm that after just two months of campaigning, Mr Porter, the owner of Furry Friends pet shop has been evicted from the breeding site in Chichester where we first exposed his cruel breeding regime. We welcome the MoD's decision to take an ethical stance and evict him. Whislt we are pleased with this victory, we are not out celebrating, because Mr Porter still continues to breed animals from his shop in an unacceptable manor.

We also feel that Mr Porter is unable to give proper care for his animals, for example, the normal method used by Mr Porter for cleaning out animals in Furry Friends is by use of a vacuum cleaner whilst leaving the animal still in the cage. Many members of the public who used to use his shop have witnessed this. This can not only be terrifying for the animals but small animals are at risk from being hoovered. Mr Porter also often fails to get the appropriate veterinary care for sick animals. Mr Porter has yet again been reported to the RSPCA by a member of the public who has seen an untreated injured canary in the shop. Recently Mr Porter also left a black rabbit in his shop for weeks in a tiny cage with an untreated eye infection.

This is unacceptable and so the protests and campaign will continue until Furry Friends is an animal free zone.

FURRY FRIENDS DEMO

04.11.06
Another day, another demo for Phil Porter. After a morning of support from passers by, an increasingly desperate Porter phoned the police to complain about the five peaceful protestors outside of his shop.

The police arrived, and after politely but firmly telling Porter that we had every right to protest, they left to catch some real criminals (people poaching ducks on a public pond as it would happen).

DEMO OUTSIDE PHIL PORTERS PET SHOP

21.08.06
On Sunday, our first protest was held outside of Furry Friends pet shop in Barnham, which is owned by Phil Porter, and is where some of the animals rescued from his site were due to be taken for sale. Other animals would have been sent to other pet shops in the area or for animal feed.

The public support was incredible, with many people, including long-time customers, declaring that they will never buy anything from his shop again. A couple of his friends claimed he was an animal lover, although after to talking to the most passionate for nearly an hour, she seemed to have completely changed her opinion, and left, wishing us luck!

WELCOME TO THE PROSECUTE PORTER WEBSITE

In 2005, several campaigners documented horrific neglect and cruelty inside of a pet breeding site owned by Phil Porter. The animals were subsequently rescued, and four of the campaigners were prosectued. This chain of events has led to this campaign.

Our aims are to get Phil Porter banned from keeping animals and / or force him to stop breeding and selling animals in his pet shop.
