NEWS COVERAGE OF LLOYDS DEMO IN WORTHING

04/12/06
Taken from The Argus:

"PROTESTERS RAIL AGAINST EXPERIMENTS ON GOATS

Animal Rights portestors unfurled a 4m banner and used a megaphone during a protest about the use of goats in medical experiments.

A group of ten people stood outside Lloyds TSB Registrars in The Strand, Goring, near Worthing, yesterday.

They want the bank to stop providing services for Gosport based firm QinetiQ, which is using live goats to research the effects of decompression sickness.

The firm maintains there is no alternative method of carrying out the tests but Tom Harris from the Southern Animal Rights Coalition said the tests were "cruel".

He said: "The goats either die from internal organ damage during the tests or are killed afterwards.

"We had a good rection to the protest, which was peaceful, and most of the workers took our leaflets, which was encouraging.""
