Ben Bradshaw MP,
I am writing in regards to the issue of foie gras. I am aware that you recently spoke out against this cruel dish in response to a Parliamentary Question raised by Mike Hancock MP.
Whilst I was delighted by your firm stance on the issue, I believe that there are steps that you could take to help end the sale of foie gras in the UK.
I too hope that public pressure will stop the foie gras industry in this country, but this can only happen if people know what it is they are purchasing. If foie gras was labeled as being the engorged liver of force fed ducks or geese on restaurant menus, and on packaging, I am sure that it would go a long way towards stopping this practice. As such, I would urge you to adopt a policy of mandatory labeling of all foie gras on sale in the UK.
I would also encourage you to look into the possibility of a voluntary ban on the sale of foie gras. I am sure that this would be the quickest, and most concise solution for all concerned.
Yours sincerely
