In 2003 SARC received a package containing paperwork taken from Wickham Labs. They documented the suffering of hundreds of animals each day in one test alone. The test is called the LD-50 test which was partially banned in 1999, and the toxin they were testing is Botulinum Toxin, better known as Botox.

A spokesman from Ipsen (Wickham's client) the Botox is being tested for both cosmetic and theraputic purposes. This is an outrage being that cosmetic testing was allegedly banned in 1998. What is even more of an outrage is that other labs are testing Botox using a completely non-animal method called the SNAP-25 assay, rendering this use of the LD50 test not only cruel but unnecessary.

We are campaigning for an end to Botox testing on animals using the LD50 test in favour of using the SNAP-25 assay. To win this campaign will mean thousands of lives saved. The paperwork from Wickham showed upto 600 animals being killed on a daily basis for Botox.
