The
Southern Animal Rights Coalition (SARC) campaign peacefully against
all forms of animal abuse across the southern region. We promote a cruelty-free
lifestyle and investigate and expose animal cruelty.
Working with other regional networks, we are able to spearhead important,
and exciting campaigns, as well as acting as a news service for all
animal rights activity across the south.
Using
evidence gathered by ourselves and others, we have brought many important
animal rights issues into the public domain, by contacting the media when
animals are rescued, and investigating various areas of animal cruelty.
For example, in 2003 SARC received paperwork which revealed that cosmetic
Botox is still being tested on animals. We are now working for a total
ban on cosmetic tests, and for all Botulinum Toxin to be tested using
the non-animal alternatives which are readily available.
We
have also uncovered an EU directive which states that Wild
Boar should be being released into the wild across the UK. The government
however are suggesting a cull of the few wild boar currently living free.
We have been highlighting this issue, and are calling on the government
to implement the EU directive.
After
nine goats were freed from diving
experiments at a military reserach lab in 2006, we discovered that
the tests being carried out are being conducted on non-animal models in
other countries, including France. We also discovered that the experiments they were conducting were obtaining data which already existed in the public domain, and so these were repeat tests and therefore should not have been licenced by the Home Office. After just months of campaigning against QinetiQ by way of peaceful protests, media publicity and working with MP's the tests were suspended pending review. This review period took almost a year and concluded that no further research would be carried out on animals by QinetiQ. We then campaigned to save the goats at the laboratory and had success. All the remaining goats from QinetiQ were rehomed to animal sanctuaries to live out a far happier life. As well as these campaigns,
we are also working against the sale of foie gras, the fur
industry, and all other forms of animal abuse.
If you would like to get involved in animal rights in any way, please
dont hesitate to get
in touch. If you want to write letters to newspapers, MP's or animal
abuse establishments, help with information stalls, create library displays,
go hunt sabbing, take part in demonstrations, or anything else, we are
here to help you to help animals!
PLEASE
NOTE:
SARC fully supports all legal and peaceful forms of protest. SARC respectfully
requests that all letters, emails and phone calls made in support of our
campaigns are polite.
